How to decorate for a Luau?

I'd love to decorate my apartment for a Luau party! I'm just not exactly sure how to go about doing it! I figure maybe we can use the scene setters that they sell at party stores. I kind of want the living room to be like a resort. We can move things and empty the room. We have a balcony and we're going to use it as a BBQ area and maybe drinks there as well. Any ideas of how I should decorate my living room? Even if we used sand in some way, as long as it's in something we can easily move :) Thank you so much! Any type of idea would be amazing!
